Catalina Island: California’s hidden Treasure

Catalina Island is a private island off the coast of Los Angeles. It is accessible by ferry and by select cruise lines. I recently visited this BEAUTIFUL location. Catalina Island is known for its beautiful beaches and amazing spas. While most people come to this island to eat and relax, there are so many fun activities to do as well.

This island is very small in size, so small in fact cars are not allowed. Locals get around via golf carts. There are two different harbors on the island that are open to the public (Avalon and Two Harbors). There is also a larger portion of the island that is private, that is only accessible via permit. While visiting Catalina Island there are several fun activities to do. There is a vast array of water sports that include parasailing, kayaking, snorkeling, and day cruises around the island. There is also a ton of shopping on this island that includes everything from clothing, grocery stores, and even art. Since most people visit Catalina Island as an overnight trip there is plenty of lodging options. Catalina Island offers everything from camping sites, to 5 star hotels. There are several different restaurant options as well. From cute little cafés to 5 star restaurants, and local ice cream shops, Catalina has it all.

One of the things I found so amazing were the views. Being in Catalina Island at times can definitely mimic the European Mediterranean vibe. Crystal clear water and a warm breeze will certainly help you drift away from troubles of everyday life. Catalina Island is very family friendly with activities for adults and children alike. It is definitely a hidden treasure of California…
