How to Win WITHOUT setting Goals

So as we begin a new year, many people are setting goals and resolutions. In theory this is a good idea, I think goals provide structure, they allow you to focus on more positive and productive things. However, if many of us are honest we set goals every January that we forget about by February, or get frustrated and quit by March. Why? Often times we get stuck on the goal and not the process. We get stuck on the thing and not the experience. Why is this so important? I myself am a Type A, checklist person. I don’t care how much I can accomplish in a day, if I don’t “Check it off my list” the earth falls off its axis, the world is going to end, the sun will not shine the next day, lol. So much so that for the past few years I literally have refused to do a goals list for the year.

Well this year I have come up with a different strategy that has really helped me, and I hope will help you. I did NOT set any goals this year, instead I have committed to lifestyle changes. For example, I need to lose weight. I am not setting a goal of losing 25lb, because what happens if I only lose 20lb? No instead I have committed to workout 3x a week, drink at least 1 liter of water a day, only allow myself 1 dessert per week, and 1 fast food meal a week. Now my belief is if I commit to this all year, I will probably lose way more than 25lb. So setting a finite goal would really be limiting myself. In fact I have already lost 7lbs by doing this and it’s only the 3rd week of the month.

These are 2 poster boards that I put on my wall, so I can see it everyday. I will be added more later

Another example is my business. I have NOT set any sales goals for the month or the year. However, I have committed to SEVERAL PROCESS changes. Here are just a few: to do at least 2 post on my business page a day, continue to produce at least 2 tee-shirt designs per month, create at least 1 process video a week ect. I have done this, and I have sold more in 3 weeks than I did in the first 6 weeks that my business opened.

I really LOVE the goals tabs for each month

Although I have committed to several lifestyle changes, saying something and actually doing the work is two completely different things. It was important for me to find a tangible realistic process to put these changes into action. For this I used my calender from the loReign Collection www.lo-reign-collection.com (pictured above). It was great for helping me focus on the specific task that I need to complete each month.

So what is my take home message, what is my strategy for winning in 2019, don’t set a goal, create a new lifestyle change. Don’t focus on the outcome, focus on the process. Good luck.... My goal is not to win…..I want to Reign!
